Hi, I'm Makayla.
I'm a St. Louis Cardinals fan with a big heart, a big sense of adventure and a big love for concerts. I grew up in a small lake town about an hour and a half from Springfield.
As a child, I always had a passion for writing and wanted to tell stories, whether they were mine or not.

In high school, I was the editor-in-chief for both school publications: our newspaper The Wildcat and our yearbook Ozark Echoes. I oversaw roughly 25 journalists throughout the department during my time on staff. I was often seen at sporting events, covering football, boys and girls basketball, and baseball. I also had a monthly column "Wildcat Drive," named after the road taken to the high school, where I wrote about popular issues such as the gender pay gap (which I won an MIPA All-Missouri Award for) and the sexual double standard.
After graduating in 2017, I went on to Missouri State University. In May 2020, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in journalism, where I specialized in print/online mediums.

Now I am at KY3, the number one news station in Springfield. I produce the 5 a.m. newscast.
