What I Learned as a Writer For The Blonde Lifestyle

Updated: Feb 24, 2020

During the spring 2019 semester, I was frantically searching for an internship so I could graduate. As I kept coming out of email after email empty handed, the opportunity to work for a friend arose, and I didn't want to pass it up. Madison Russell, the owner of the online college lifestyle blog "The Blonde Lifestyle," gave me such a unique opportunity to gain some experience.

Here's what one of the greatest jobs offered me this semester!

What was my role?

My official job title was "web content creator." With this, I did just about everything under the sun! I wrote and published blog posts covering multiple areas (such as studying, safety and recommendations), published content to social media platforms, and designed content for us across all of our platforms.

What did a typical day in my life look like?

As I mentioned before, I was working for an online blog, therefore, all of my work I completed was during my own time. I liked this set up a lot because it allowed me to prioritize my school work but still get the experience I needed! Working on my own time was fantastic, and I learned a lot about social media and marketing through my position. There are many, many things that I did during my time (and am still doing!) with The Blonde Lifestyle that will be highly beneficial during my professional career.

What blog posts did I complete?

  1. 20+ Cute College Supplies for College Girls

  2. The Best Ways to Make and Study Flashcards

  3. How to Make Sure You Don't Procrastinate

  4. 100+ Student Discounts You Didn't Know About

What did I post on social media?

I was solely responsible for posting the published blog posts on the blog's Twitter and Instagram accounts. I created Instagram highlights in order for users to better navigate the account, especially if they are new to The Blonde Lifestyle. In this highlights, you will find a "Templates" highlight where all of the templates I created are located. You can view both accounts at the attached links below.

What did I design?

I designed blog graphics for a majority of the posts I published. All of the graphics I designed are below. Some of which have been featured on the blog already with their corresponding blog posts, while others will be featured in upcoming blog posts that I have worked on (but not published) during my 135 required hours.
