Barack Obama Singing Call Me Maybe By Carly Rae Jepsen

This video consists of different clips of Barack Obama speaking and turned it into a music video. There are various forms of this video, such as Obama singing “Hotline Bling” by Drake, and all of these videos are equally as entertaining and funny. I feel this video went viral because of how creative, entertaining and funny it is. Another reason why it could have gone viral is the fact that it is the leader of the United States “singing” songs that are popular at the time. This video was the first of its kind, following behind with many other top hits throughout Obama’s presidency.

So Sorry. – Logan Paul

To start of the new year “right,” Logan Paul posted a vlog of him and some friends walking through the Aokigahara Forest in Japan, otherwise known as the “Japanese Suicide Forest.” It is located at the base of Mount Fuji, and is the most prevalent site in Japan for suicides. During the vlog, Paul films a recent suicide victim, and reacts very poorly to the situation, blowing his actions off as his “coping mechanism.” I believe this apology video became popular was of the initial release of the suicide forest vlog, which was later taken down due to the audience’s response. Paul later released a public apology, which had been highly awaited following the silence on his social media platforms. Although many people still are not accepting Paul’s apology, I feel the apology went viral just because people wanted to hear him say “I’m sorry.” The original video came across very offensive and insensitive to those that have lost a loved one to suicide, and this apology video went viral for better reasons.

Twins Come Out To Dad – The Rhodes Brothers

In 2015, the same year that the Rhodes Brothers posted their “Twins Come Out To Dad” video, same sex marriage was legalized in all 50 US states. In the height of that piece of legislation, I feel this video could have been support to those that were planning to come out, or had already come out. This kind of video can show other people that they are not alone in how they are feeling. This particular video could even show someone how hard and rewarding it is to “come out” to a family member, or even a friend. This was a big decision for the Rhodes Brothers, and during the video, their audience can see how hard it was for them to tell their father before he found out over YouTube. To sum everything up, this video definitely went viral over the legislation that was passed during the same year, and could have been passed around to different people in the LGBTQ+ community to give ideas on how to come out, and see how others coped with the decision to come out.
